These custom-designed lenses vault over the cornea and rest on the scleral while avoiding the irritated cornea. The liquid reservoir between the lens and the cornea provides a continuous moist environment that protects the cornea and provides relief for those with dry, itchy and burning eyes.
Scleral lenses are custom-fit to your exact corneal measurements. This, along with the lenses' extra-large size, makes the lenses both extra-comfortable and extra-stable on the eye.
This will largely depend on the type of insurance you have. Not all insurances are the same. Some plans will cover the exam and the lens fitting, but will not cover the lenses themselves. Others will agree to pay part or all of the cost, but usually, after other treatment options have been exhausted.

Like any transition, there were some reasonable challenges early on, but their team was responsive and willing to work through them collaboratively.
Like any growing business, infrastructure has had to evolve over time. As those pieces have been put into place, support has continued to improve. I’ve seen a lot of change over these past five years, but changes have been thoughtful, with intentional processes behind them, and willingness to pivot when necessary.
They’ve shown a genuine commitment to maintaining high-quality patient care while also supporting continued specialty growth within the practice. I’ve especially appreciated the regional and district leadership—they truly care about the individuals on their team as people, not just employees.
Importantly, we maintained strong staff retention throughout the transition, with no team members leaving due to corporate leadership. Patients still benefit from and comment about quality care and service, and many still don’t realize there was a change in ownership even five years later.
